Is there light (in this deep darkness)

I was quite taken aback by Varshney’s theory that we could describe relationships with something akin to mathematical formulas. (K=N (N-1)/2. I was also intrigued by his descriptions of civil society and formal associations. This image is created from a picture of the world with the numbers dribbling off. I added the groups of formal organizations, which are not unrepresentative of the types of formal organizations that I grew up with. I stamped the stars in, nearly as an afterthought. It seemed to bleak and dark without them.
